Regina, SK – Jordy Stallard scored the lone goal of the third period to lift a veteran Calgary Hitmen squad to a 4-3 decision over the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday afternoon at the Co-operators Centre.
After trailing by two midway through the second period, the Raiders managed to tie the game before the intermission. The team was unable to find a go-ahead marker as Calgary got the third period’s only goal off a scramble in front of the Prince Albert crease.
Luke Coleman, Parker Kelly, and Spencer Moe each scored for Prince Albert. A second round selection in the 2015 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, Moe paced the Raiders with two points (1g, 1a).
Dressing 13 members of their 2014-15 roster, the Hitmen got goals from three returning players in Terrell Draude, Pavel Karnaukhov, and Stallard. 15-year-old Tristen Nielsen also lit the lamp in the win.
Raiders’ goaltender Ian Scott got the nod on Saturday against his hometown team and made 13 saves on 16 shots in 31 minutes of action. Curtis Meger played the final 29 minutes of the game and allowed just one goal on 15 shots.
Lasse Petersen played all 60 minutes for the Hitmen and stopped 28 of 31 shots.
The Raiders and Hitmen each recorded 31 shots. Prince Albert went 1-for-8 on the power play, while Calgary went 0-for-2.
