Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders announced that goaltender Brett Balas has been re-assigned to the Calgary Flames of the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League.
Balas featured in one pre-season game this season. He was in goal for the 5-2 loss to the Saskatoon Blades in Warman on Saturday, September 9. He made 38 saves in a losing effort.
Last season, Balas had a 13-6-3 record with the NWCAA Bruins of the AMMHL. He posted a 0.934 save percentage and a 2.54 goals-against average.
The 5’11 goaltender from Calgary was drafted by the Raiders in the third round of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. He was signed by the team on July 19, 2016.
Also, forward Adam Kadlec has left the Prince Albert Raiders to pursue his academic interests.
The Raiders roster now sits at 26 players with a breakdown of three goaltenders, nine defencemen, and 14 forwards.
The Raiders open the 2017-18 regular season on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Puck drop is 7 p.m. The Prince Albert Travel Club will have a barbecue outside of the Art Hauser Centre prior to the game. Tickets are available at the Raider Office or at raiderhockey.com.
