Raiders Sign Four

Prince Albert SK – The Prince Albert Raiders announced Monday that they have signed four players to standard WHL Education contracts, including Tomas Andrlik, Darcy Zahirchuk, Cody Paivarinta and Luke Coleman.


Andrlik was selected by the Raiders 37th overall in the 2013 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. The Czech defenceman split last season with HC Plzen’s Under-18 and Under-20 teams, totalling 6 goals and 17 assists for 23 points and 65 penalty minutes in 41 games.


Zaharichuk, a 17-year-old left-winger from Sherwood Park, Alberta, played 31 gamed for the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Midget Hockey League in 2012-2013, scoring 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points.


Paivarinta, a 6’5” 15-year-old defenceman from Abbostford, British Columbia, was the Raiders 3rd round selection, 46th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft last May.


Coleman was also drafted by the Raiders in the 2013 Bantam Draft, in the 5th round, 104th overall. The 6’, 193-pound left-winger scored 17 goals and 24 for 41 points last season with the Red Deer Bantam Rebels.


The Raiders kick off the 2013 Pre-Season with an exhibition game against the Regina Pats on Thursday at the Art Hauser Centre at 7:00 PM.
