Raiders select Hamre and Dionne in 2023 WHL U.S. Priority Draft

The Prince Albert Raiders held the fifth and 27th overall picks in Wednesday’s WHL U.S. Priority Draft, and the team selected two forwards, linemates, in fact, from the same team.

Liam Hamre and Caden Dionne saw their names be selected by the Raiders on Wednesday morning. The two forwards from the Sioux Falls Power U14 AAA club both finished with over 40 points each this season.

Hamre, a 6’3 forward, registered 49 points (28G-21A) in 51 regular season games to go along with 42 PIM. Dionne, a 5’9 forward, averaged a little over a point per game with 41 points (24G-17A) in 40 games with 25 PIM.

With the U.S. Priority Draft now in the books, the Raiders, as well as the rest of the WHL, will turn their attention to the WHL Prospects Draft, which takes place tomorrow morning. Prince Albert holds the first, second, and seventh overall picks in the first round. Coverage starts at 10am.
