Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders have signed five players to WHL Standard Player Agreements: 2002-born forward Ethan Ironside, 2002-born forward Cale Sanders, 2004-born forward Alex Mack, 2004-born forward Bryce Warkentine, and 2005-born forward Zachary Wilson.
Ironside, who hails from Prince Albert, was drafted in the eighth round of the 2017 WHL Prospects Draft by the Kamloops Blazers. He was also a third-round pick of the Nipawin Hawks in the SJHL Bantam Draft.
The winger listed at 5’9 and 200 lbs played one game for the SJHL’s Kindersley Klippers in the 2020-21 season. He also suited up in five games for the Nipawin Hawks during the 2019-20 season.
In his last full season of play, Ironside had 10 goals and nine assists in 27 games with the Prince Albert Mintos.
Sanders is a product of Claresholm, AB and was originally signed by the Regina Pats prior to the 2018-19 season.
The 6’0, 200-lb winger played in 37 games over two seasons with the Pats, recording two penalty minutes.
Last season, Sanders was a member of the AJHL’s Okotoks Oilers. He had three goals and two assists in seven games in the abbreviated season.
Mack, who was listed at 5’11 and 166 lbs, hails from Edmonton, AB. He has spent the past two seasons in the OHA Edmonton program.
Last year, Mack played in five games with OHA Edmonton’s U18 prep team. He had two goals and two assists in five games played before the season ended.
In his last full season in 2019-20, Mack had 11 goals and eight assists in 35 games for the Elite 15s while serving as an alternate captain. The forward heated up in the playoffs, scoring four goals and adding four assists in three games.
Warkentine was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft by the Raiders. The Landmark, MB product is listed at 5’11 and 187 lbs.
Warkentine has been in the Eastman Selects program since his U15 days, spending the last two seasons with the U18 AAA team in the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League In the shortened 2020-21 season, he potted one goal in four games. During the 2019-20 season, he scored 13 goals and added 21 assists in 42 games.
Hailing from Wetaskiwin, AB, Wilson was picked by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. The forward is listed at 5’9 and 173 lbs.
Wilson has been with the Northern Alberta Xtreme program for the past two seasons. In his last full season with the U15 Prep team, he had 11 goals and 10 assists in 26 games. He started the 2020-21 season with the U16 Prep team, scoring twice and adding an assist in three games.
The Raiders open their WHL Pre-season schedule on Friday night when the Regina Pats visit the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m. The 2021-22 Home Opener is set for Friday, October 1 against the Pats at the Art Hauser Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.
