Game Preview – Game 2 at Saskatoon


RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders head to Saskatoon tonight to take on the Blades at SaskTel Centre to close out the season-opening home-and-home series. Last night at the Art Hauser Centre, the Raiders dropped their 2019 Home Opener 3-2 in overtime against the Blades. Aliaksei Protas and Landon Kosior scored the Raiders’ goal in the loss. Ryan Hughes had the game-winning goal in overtime for the Blades. Boston Bilous made 15 saves in the loss for the Raiders.

ON THE BOARD: Rookie defenceman Landon Kosior scored his first career WHL goal on Friday night against the Blades. Last season, Regina product had nine goals and 43 assists for the SMHL’s Tisdale Trojans. He also won the Top Defenceman Award at the 2019 Telus Cup.

KNIGHT’S WATCH: On Friday, Raiders captain Brayden Pachal signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights. Pachal, an Estevan product, played in 164 games for the Raiders since being acquired from the Victoria Royals. Last season, Pachal led the WHL in plus-minus with a plus-76 rating.

BEHIND THE BENCH: Head Coach Marc Habscheid will be on the bench for Team WHL at the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series. On Friday, Habscheid was named an Assistant Coach for the two games to be played in Saskatchewan this November. The Art Hauser Centre will host the sixth and final game of the series on Thursday, November 14. Tickets are now available.

INTO THE ACTION: Four players made their Raiders debuts on Friday night against the Blades—Remy Aquilon, Ivan Kechkin, Landon Kosior, and Ilya Usau. Only Aquilon had prior WHL experience as he was acquired from the Royals during the pre-season.
