Raiders Upended By Warriors In Moose Jaw
Moose Jaw, SK – In the second of games on back-to-back nights, the Prince Albert Raiders (7-24-1-1) dropped a 4-1 game to the Moose Jaw Warriors (19-7-4-1) at Mosaic Place on Wednesday night.
The two teams played a goalless hockey game until the final four minutes of the second period. Jayden Halbgewachs continued to be a thorn in the Raiders side when he beat Ian Scott with 3:59 left. In the final minute of the period, Noah Gregor scored a power-play goal to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Early in the third period, Tanner Jeannot extended Moose Jaw’s lead to 3-0. With 2:59 left in the game, Josh Brook added another goal to give the Warriors a 4-0 advantage. Just 36 seconds later, Austin Glover broke the Warriors’ shutout bid when he buried a rebound on a rush into the offensive zone, making the final 4-1. The goal extended Glover’s personal point streak to seven games.
In a losing effort, Scott made 42 saves, including a number of challenging stops on the likes of Halbgewachs and Brayden Burke in the third. Warriors goaltender Zach Sawchenko made 29 saves for the win.
Up next for the Raiders is a Friday night trip to Swift Current for a clash with the Broncos at the Credit Union I-Plex. Game time is 7 p.m. The next Raiders’ home game is on Saturday night when they host the Broncos in the second half of the home-and-home series.
