Raiders Dropped By Pats In Regina
Regina, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders (15-18-6-2) fell 4-1 to the Regina Pats (21-19-3-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre to wrap up a three-in-three weekend.
The Pats got on the board less than a minute into the game when Robbie Holmes snuck a shot through a screen and Ian Scott. Regina continued to pile on the pressure as the Raiders were assessed four penalties in the first period. However, Scott and the Raiders penalty kill held strong and did not allow a goal for the rest of the period.
In the second, the Raiders had their opportunities with the man advantage. They weren’t able to solve goaltender Tyler Brown in the period, making it a 1-0 game after two periods.
The Pats increased their lead in the third period. Jake Leschyshyn’s shot from the right wing got past Scott to make it a 2-0 game. Midway through the frame, Bryan Lockner found a bouncing puck at the side of the goal and beat Scott to put the Pats up 3-0.
With about seven minutes to play, the Raiders pulled their goalie for an extra attacker in the offensive zone. Shortly after, Leschyshyn grabbed the puck and scored from his own end to make it 4-0.
The Raiders broke the shutout late in the third. Parker Kelly scored from the top of the crease with a two-man advantage, rounding out the scoring at 4-1.
In the loss, Scott stopped 35 shots. Brown made 28 saves in the win.
The Raiders are off until the weekend when they host two games against division rivals. On Friday, the Swift Current Broncos visit the Art Hauser Centre. Then on Saturday, the Raiders take on the Moose Jaw Warriors. Both games begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
