Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders (8-30-1-2) fell 7-1 to the Tri-City Americans (23-17-3-0) on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Americans got on the board late in the first period when Jordan Topping beat goaltender Ian Scott. In the second, Dylan Coghlan made it a 2-0 game midway through the frame.
Tri-City pulled away with three goals early in the first five minutes of the third period Maxwell James, Riley Sawchuk and Michael Rasmussen found the back of the net to give the Americans a 5-0 lead. Those goals ended Scott’s night. He made 17 saves in just over 44 minutes of play.
Topping scored his second of the game at the 7:58 mark to increase Tri-City’s lead. With 3:38 to play, Kyle Olson found the back of the net. Cole Fonstad broke former Raiders goaltender Rylan Parenteau’s shutout bid with 1:40 to play on the power play with his seventh goal of the season.
In relief, Nicholas Sanders stopped nine of 11 shots faced. Parenteau made 40 saves in the win for the Americans.
Up next for the Raiders is a trip to Swift Current to take on the Broncos at the Credit Union i-Plex. Game time is 7 p.m. The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday night when they host Matteo Gennaro and the Calgary Hitmen for a 7 p.m. contest.
