Raiders Can’t Put Away Rebels, Fall In OT

Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders (20-20-8-2) got a point in the standings on Tuesday night at the Art Hauser Centre, but fell 4-3 in overtime to the Red Deer Rebels (13-25-9-2).

After the two teams skated to a scoreless first period, the Raiders opened the scoring midway through the second. Brett Leason dug the puck out of a scrambled faceoff and got it to Justin Nachbaur, who wired it past Riley Lamb at the 9:38 mark. Less than a minute later, the Rebels tied it up as Mason McCarty beat Ian Scott from the near side of the right faceoff circle.

With 8:23 to play in the period, Curtis Miske restored the Raiders’ lead. He pounced on a rebound at the left-wing faceoff circle and slapped it past Lamb. The lead lasted for two minutes this time when Alex Morozoff was left all alone in the slot and snapped it past Scott to make it a 2-2 game after 40.

In the third, Eric Pearce gave the Raiders the lead again. Leason outworked the Rebels defence and left it for Pearce, who beat Lamb to make it a 3-2 2:27 into the third. Five minutes later, Red Deer tied it up again. Kristian Reichel capitalized on a turnover and squeezed a shot through Scott to make it a 3-3 game after regulation.

In overtime, Reichel ended the game when his wrist shot from the left wing got past Scott 2:37 into the extra period.

Scott finished the game with 19 saves in the loss. Lamb stopped 25 shots in the win.

The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre on Friday night for a pivotal matchup against the Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
