Leavitt Machinery Preview – Game 41 at Regina


RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders (15-17-6-2) aim for a sweep of their three-in-three weekend when they travel to Regina to take on the Pats this afternoon. Last night, the Raiders took out the Red Deer Rebels 2-1 in overtime at the Art Hauser Centre. Vojtech Budik scored in the second period, but Reece Johnson tied it before the end of the period. Kody McDonald ended the game in overtime with his first as a Raider. Curtis Meger got the start between the pipes and 18 saves to pick up his first win since November 25 against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

VS. REGINA: This is the fourth meeting of the year between the Raiders and the Pats. In the last game, the Raiders surrendered a 3-1 third-period lead in a 5-4 overtime loss in Regina at the Brandt Centre.

PICKING UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF: Kody McDonald didn’t wait long to make an immediate impact, scoring the overtime goal against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night despite arriving at the rink an hour before puck drop. With the goal, McDonald extended his goal-scoring streak to three games and his point streak to five.

WELCOME BACK, BUDS: Vojtech Budik, who was playing his third game in as many nights, returned to the Raiders’ lineup on Saturday after taking part at the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championship. The Czech Republic defenceman made an immediate offensive impact for the Raiders, scoring their regulation goal and setting up the OT winner.

NEXT UP: The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre for two weekend games against division rivals. On Friday, the Swift Current Broncos come to town to tangle with the Raiders.
