Prince Albert, SK – Two late third-period goals cost the Prince Albert Raiders (18-42-5-2) on Tuesday night in a 4-2 loss to the Swift Current Broncos (35-20-4-6) at the Art Hauser Centre.
Tyler Steenbergen sniped one past Ian Scott with 58 seconds to play, followed by Ryley Lindgren potting an empty-net goal to round out the scoring.
It was a good start for the Raiders. Parker Kelly continued his hot streak, redirecting Simon Stransky’s shot past Jordan Papirny on a mid-period power play. The goal extended Kelly’s point streak to four games.
The Broncos tied the game five minutes later when Lane Pederson got one past Scott. On the play, Scott’s skate malfunctioned, forcing him to leave the game for about four minutes. Nicholas Sanders stopped two shots in relief.
Scott was back in form for the second period, making 15 saves in the frame to keep it a 1-1 game heading into the third.
Coming out of the third period timeout, Kaden Elder sovled Scott to put the Broncos up 2-1.Less than three minutes later, Kelly tallied his second goal of the game to tie it up at 2-2. That set up Steenbergen’s heroics in the final minutes, before Lindgren finished of the scoring with 17 seconds to play.
In total, Scott stopped 30 shots in a losing effort. Papirny made 33 saves in the win.
