Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders (35-4-0-1) play their final three home games in January before a long road trip this week.
Last week, the Raiders finished with a 2-1 record. After beating the Pats 5-3 in Regina on Tuesday, the Raiders fell 4-2 to the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday. The following night, the Raiders got back in the win column by earning a 5-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.
This week’s slate of game is highlighted by two American teams making their only trips to the Art Hauser Centre this season and a special game on Saturday.
Up first is the Seattle Thunderbirds (12-20-4-0) on Wednesday night. Then, the Raiders host the Portland Winterhawks (23-11-3-2) on Friday night. This is the only time the Raiders will host the U.S. Division teams until the 2020-21 season. So far this year, the Raiders hold a 3-0-0-0 record against teams from south of the border.
On Saturday, the surging Calgary Hitmen (19-16-3-1) make their final trip to the Art Hauser Centre this season. The Hitmen are 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 games.
Saturday night is also the Second Annual Sock Hop Presented By Parkland Ambulance. The Raiders will be accepting donations of new pairs of socks for Parkland Ambulance, who in turn will give them to people in need.
Fans who bring in socks will be entered into a draw to win a TV. When they enter the Art Hauser Centre with socks, they will be given a draw ticket to put in their pair of socks. During the second intermission, fans will try to throw their socks into a moving vehicle on the ice. One pair from inside the vehicle will be picked and the winning number will be called. If no socks make it in the vehicle, a pair will be chosen at random from the ice.
All three of our games this week begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Raider Office and raiderhockey.com.
Following this week, the Raiders head out for a six-game road trip through the B.C. Division before stopping in Cranbrook to take on the Kootenay ICE on the way home.
